How to Access Your SiteGround Website with Cyberduck via FTP

If you need to access your website’s files from another location, FTP is the perfect solution. This tutorial will show you how to set up FTP on your computer and connect to your website. By following these simple steps, you’ll be able to move, copy, and delete files with ease.

How to modify your website with Cyberduck and FTP

This tutorial will show you how to set up FTP on your computer and connect to your website.

  1. Log in to SiteGrounds

The first thing you’ll want to do is go to SiteGrounds and log in. Then go to your Web sites. Then you’re going to go to site tools, over to the site, and then FTP accounts.

  2. Create FTP account

Access your SiteGround website with Cyberduck via FTP.

Now, this will be the username and password for the account, the FTP account that you will log in from. So, in this case, I’m just going to leave the username as support, or you can change it to whatever you want. And set a password. Then click Create

So now the account has been created. You can change the name, and you can change the directory. And you can change a couple of other parameters here as well. We’re interested in the FTP credentials. And this will be the information you will put into your FTP client.

  3. Log in to your website via Cyberduck

Open cyber duck. Click Open Connection and leave it as an FTP file transfer protocol.
The server is going to be the hostname. Add a username, and then we’ll put in the password we had put in ourselves. We’ll leave the port to 21 by default. And now, I’m going to click Connect.

From here, I can control every aspect of my website. If I go into the public HTML folder, I can see all my WordPress stuff.

So once again, to wrap everything up, this is the information you’ll want to give a developer when they ask for USDP credentials, and you can always click create another one. So if I go to instead of support, let’s say that it’s dev one or dev term like the person’s name is Tom, and you create, give them, you know, a password, generate one, create, and there you go.

So that’s this person’s credentials. And then you can send this information to them, and then they can log in and start doing their edits, and that’s it.

Do you still have questions? Below are some of the most commonly asked questions about making a WordPress website.

Can I use FTP with Cyberduck?

Cyberduck is a free and very effective program for sending files over the web. It is a highly popular FTP client and is used by webmasters from all over the globe.

For what reason has FTP fallen out of favor?

Like telnet, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is still used for some purposes. Still, it has fallen out of favor on the contemporary internet in favor of more secure protocols like Secure Shell (SSH) and File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).

Is Cyberduck safe?

Cyberduck is ideal for overseeing an organization’s storage infrastructure and managing data. Data stored on its network is impenetrable due to its stringent security measures. It encrypts everything so that it can’t be read by someone who shouldn’t see it.
