Clipboard History Chrome Extension Review

If you like to save time and use all kinds of plug-ins to help speed up your productivity, This video is for you. I will show you one of my favorite tools for productivity. It’s a Chrome extension, and it will change your life. The tool I want to talk about today is called clipboard history.

This tool is a game changer. I cannot live without this tool. I’m telling you after you use this tool, you will feel the same way.

What is clipboard history?

Clipboard History is a home extension that keeps an actual history of everything you type. And it’s not just five, two, or 20 things. It records thousands of entries. I went weeks ago, things I copied weeks ago, and I’ve searched for them, and it’s just there. So let me show you.

So this is what it looks like. It’s going to have all of your histories. It’s going to save all of your history just like this. You can, of course, delete your entire history. You can also see how long the characters are, which is extremely helpful.

Download the extension

So to find this tool, all you have to do is search for it. So type in the clipboard history. The first thing that pops up is the Clipboard history for the Chrome browser.

Look at all those positive reviews. That’s for good reasons. I can’t think of a single negative thing to say about this app. It’s fast, and it has saved my ass multiple times. All right. So let’s go ahead and start playing with it.

After you download it, if you don’t see it right away, click on this little puzzle piece, and you’ll have to toggle it on or off. It might already be toggled off by default. So toggle on. And once you do that, you’ll see it right up on your extensions.

For you, it’ll be totally clear without anything. But for me, as you can see, I have tons of things that I’ve cut and pasted, not just a couple of minutes’ worth or a couple of them, but I’m talking days’ worth. So this will go on for days and days and days because I’ve been working on the computer for so long.

But if you’re not using the computer all the time, you can see things from weeks ago. And that’s going to be extremely useful for a couple of reasons.

For example, I’ve run into issues where I copied something, pasted it, and then, by accident, deleted the document I was working on or copied something over to a browser. Then I accidentally closed that browser window, which could be a nightmare, especially if it were a job application or something like that.

Well, suppose you copied it at any point on that browser. In that case, clipboard history has a history essentially of that entire text, so you can go back to it whenever, not just right when you need it, but a couple of weeks later or a couple of days later.

Favorites

The next thing I want to talk about is the favorites section. So this is useful if you have things you copy all the time, maybe links to two pages that you know you’ll be using all the time, but you don’t want to search for them or type them in.

You can save them as favorites. So this is how you do that. You go into this hamburger menu, add text, and then we’re going to type it in. “The website is cool.” Let’s do that. Click Add. Before we do that, we have to say where we’ll save it. So we’ll save it to favorites, not a cloud, because it’s a paid feature favorite add item, and there we have it.

The time stamp is dynamic, so it said a few seconds ago, but tomorrow it will say one day ago. So you can save things that you’ve added to the clipboard as favorites just by checking the star.

So now, if I click on favorites, you’ll see that everything I gave a star to is checked or added to the favorites section. I can edit that at any point, so I can edit that and change what it says. And by the way, if you copy something you don’t want anybody to see you copied, you can always delete that line item.

So you can click X right here. However, you cannot delete items with a star on them. So you’ll have to uncheck the star first and then delete the item.

Text length

One of the last things I want to mention is that you can also see how long that text is. Now, why is this important? I’ll give you an example right now. Let’s copy this entire paragraph, and then let’s copy this entire paragraph just off the history copy. So now we have essentially two strings that are copied over. So now, if I click on Clipboard History, you’ll see that there are two entries; there are two things that are saved here, but which one is the one that you want?

That’s the tricky part. So that’s where the text length comes in handy because this way, we can differentiate a little bit easier on the one we want. So if there’s one that’s just one line or an entire page long, we’ll be able to tell that from the length.

Screenshots

And one of the last features I want to discuss is unexpected. I didn’t even know this was in the app until I started doing this video because it’s so out of the blue. But you can take a screenshot of the page you’re working on, and it works just like any of these other full-page screenshot Chrome extensions.

So if we go over to the hamburger menu and click on a full page, we’ll see that it starts taking a screenshot of the entire page, and it will download it to our downloads folder automatically as a PNG file.

So with this app, you can kill two birds with one stone. I have a separate extension right here that will do the same thing you saw me do, but I will probably delete that one because now I don’t need it since this one does two things.
